The Dad's Guide to (Better) Body Care

“Taking care of yourself is not selfish”; “Get regular check-ups done, including visiting the dentist”; “Avoid using harsh styling products like too much gel”; “Don’t ignore new moles or growths, itching etc.”; “Drink lots of water”; “Maintain a good posture”; “Exercise and stay active”; “Get 8+ hours of rest”.

We’ve heard it all before, but the ‘elders’ have a point.
And here’s what the Boomers and Gen X have to say on Body Care…

“Don’t use too much hairsprays, styling gels and chemical products”

A healthy scalp is essential for healthy hair. Thus avoiding harsh styling products containing parabens, sulphates etc. will only help in the long run. Using shampoos like Lazy Rituals' Lavender & Rosemary Shampoo and Conditioner helps keep hair nourished without any chemicals.

“Don't stay dirty and sweaty”

Good personal hygiene is essential for preventing infections and other health problems. Showering regularly with mild soaps and shampoos is a must. Wash your hands frequently. Use a nice perfume to impress.
Try the ‘Lavender & Rosemary Hand Wash’ and say hello to hands that are soft, smooth, and ready to take on the world. (Get Dad a bottle and find out for yourself!)

“Don't neglect your feet”

Wash and moisturise your feet regularly, and use a pumice stone or foot file to remove rough, dead skin. Trim your nails frequently.

“Make healthy activities part of your daily routine”

To neglect self-care is a fool’s move. Make time for yourself and the activities that you enjoy, like exercise, meditation, running, family holidays, short trips and the likes.

“Eat healthy”

A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats can help to promote healthy skin and overall well-being. Avoid processed foods, sugars, carbonated drinks, excessive junk and fast foods. You might not see the effects immediately but they will surely show eventually.

Neglecting self-care in favour of work and family obligations is not wise and highly frowned upon. Taking care of yourself first allows you to be better at other aspects of life, and generally it’s too late when this realisation hits.

So take a page from the Boomer and Gen X playbook, the professionals have good advice for us!
Your body is your temple. Treat it with respect and care, and it'll serve you well for years to come”; “Looking good and feeling good go hand in hand - so don't just hit the gym, find some time for mind relaxation too”; “Don't be a tough guy unnecessarily”; “Make time for the finer things in life like family, loved ones and yourself!”

Ending with one last quote

“Your body is like a classic car - you've got to keep it tuned up, polished, and running smoothly if you want it to look good and last long.”
